The MassRVs health department is announcing the appointment of a new vaccine specialist in the hospital and a new position to serve as an emergency room doctor.
The appointments are being made in conjunction with the mass vaccination campaign to be launched next week in the state.
MassRV said in a statement on Wednesday that Dr. Michael Hausmann will be in charge of vaccinating patients in the emergency room, as well as in the department’s outpatient department.
Dr. Hausman is an experienced emergency physician and has been with the hospital for more than 20 years, the statement said.
He is currently a faculty member at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The statement said that Dr Hausmen will also be responsible for overseeing the emergency department, including providing emergency department access to patients.
“His expertise in emergency medicine, infectious disease, infectious and respiratory diseases, and infectious and related medical procedures is highly relevant to the emergency departments at MassHealth, MassRVA and the entire Massachusetts health care system,” MassRVS said.
MassRVS is part of the MassHealth System, the state’s largest health care provider.
MassRVi said that in addition to Dr Haucmann, the other two appointments will be made by MassRVI Health Director of Emergency Medicine Dr. William Schoenebein and Dr. Peter Paz.
